Henry Blossom
Henry Blossom was born on May 6, 1866 in St. Louis Missouri. Blossom left his father’s insurance business after he began writing short stories and then, novels, one of which, Checkers, he successfully dramatized. His first Broadway musical project as a book writer and lyricist, The Yankee Consul (1904, music by Alfred Robyn) followed by several successful collaborations with Victor Herbert Mlle. Modiste (1905), The Red Mill (1906), The Only Girl (1914), The Princess Pat (1913), and Eileen (1917). Blossom was one of the best librettists of his time and passed away at age 53 in 1919.
